CNG Is Safe, Affordable, Reliable – PCNGI Boss

The Chairman, Presidential Committee on Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI), Barrister Ismael Ahmed, has called on Nigerians to take advantage of the compressed natural gas (CNG) to cushion the effect of high cost of transportation as a result of using petrol engine motors.

He said this is part of the renewed hope strategy of the President Bola Ahmed Tibubu to cushion the effect of high cost of transportation across the country.

He said CNG is an alternative sustainable natural gas which is acceptable, safe, cheaper and reliable.

His words, “This compressed natural gas is far safer and better for vehicles. It is equally cleaner, accessible and affordable”.

He added that 20 states in the country are currently having CNG in use while efforts are in top gear towards spreading it across the country.

In his contribution the Technical Engineer to PCNGI, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi disclosed that they are training engineers across the country to be able to fix any compliant on CNG-compliant vehicles.

This, he said, is in addition to the existence of 65 CNG technical stations spread across the states that are CNG-compliant.

The target of P-CNGi is one million vehicles at the first phase of the project but the chairman was quick to add that their programme is designed to last for a very long time.

Integrity Reporters gathered that companies, individuals and government patronage are equally welcomed to bring support to the programme financially.
