De Genius Olivet College, Tigbo’lu in Tigbo Town, Ota, Ogun State has once again distinguished itself on the national stage, emerging as the Best Secondary School in Science in Nigeria for the second consecutive year.

Representing Ogun State, the college clinched first place at the 2025 Science & Technology Competition organized by the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN).

The national finals were held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, and featured top-performing secondary schools from all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The highlight of the college’s presentation was a locally fabricated machine that ingeniously converts sewage and excreta into reusable water, a practical and environmentally impactful innovation that impressed the judges and audience alike.

The event was officially opened by the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, who represented the State Governor at the occasion. The competition served as a platform for showcasing young talents in science and technology from across the nation.

This marks the second consecutive year that De Genius Olivet College has not only represented Ogun State at the national level but also brought home the first-place prize, solidifying its reputation as a center of academic and scientific excellence.

In a congratulatory message, Oba Victor Thomas Fagbayi, the Onitigbo of Tigbo’lu, praised the students and staff of the college for their remarkable achievement.

“You have made Tigbo Town and the entire Ogun State proud once again,” the traditional ruler said.
