The Edo State APC primary election has finally come to a close with Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s anointed candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki emerging the winner of the flaw poll. With the emergence of Mr. Godwin Obaseki, Governor Oshiomhole has become the newest godfather of Edo politics. By this development, Governor Oshiomhole has supplanted Chief Tony Anenih, the godfather popularly known as Mr. Fix it.
The election which was highly manipulated and heavily monetized by the Comrade Governor will go down in record as the most expensive delegate election in Nigeria history. The poll manipulation was possible from the three accreditation centres controlled by Governor Oshiomhole’s loyalists.
Earlier, temper rose at the venue of the accreditation centres when some agents of the other governorship aspirants discovered that those about to vote from some of the local government are not the same as those that where accredited. The situation was however put under control when the security concerns waded into the near rancorous pandemonium at the Dr. Sam Ogbemudia Stadium, the venue for the election.
Eye witnessed account however revealed that Governor Oshiomhole doled out approximately N600,000 to each of the 2,873 delegates, amounting to N1.7 billion. Governor Oshiomhole who has flaunted the slogan of one-man-one-vote suddenly summersaulted and caved in for politics of monetization and godfatherism.
