…As COS Tasks Commission on Digitisation of Operations
The Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Taiwo Oyemade, today, led other management staff of the Commission on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde in his office at Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking during the visit, Oyemade said that the visit was necessary in order to keep the Chief of Staff informed about the working processes of the Commission and also congratulate him on his appointment.
She noted that part of the Commission’s statutory duties includes recruitment of competent and qualified staff into the system, overseeing promotion and career progression of staff, discipline and exit, among others.
The Chairman recalled that the Commission recently promoted a total of 4,563 civil servants who were statutorily due for elevation to the next level after undergoing the mandatory Structured Training Programmes put in place by the State Government.
Responding, the Chief of Staff commended the leadership of the commission for employing competent and qualified workers into the civil service, describing officials of the State Government as “right pegs in right holes”.
While noting that the calibre of staff in the employ of the State government can compete favourably with their counterparts across the world, he appreciated the commission for being the first to pay him a courtesy visit since his appointment as the Chief of Staff by the Governor.
The Chief of Staff used the occasion to task the commission on the digitisation of its processes for easy access to important government information across the world, saying that the world has now become a global village and as such the civil service must not be left behind.
“As we know that Lagos State is a pace-setter in terms of good governance coupled with the fact that the present administration is very keen about innovation, creativity and pro-activeness, it becomes imperative for the recruiting arm of the State government to computerise and digitise its operations and work processes”, he asserted.
Ayinde envisaged a good working relationship with members of the Commission, saying that the CSC should continue to recruit a workforce that is disciplined and productive, based on equity, justice and fairness.
Other members on the entourage include Commission representatives for Badagry division, Pastor Israel Olufusho Alagbe; Epe division, Mr. Wasiu Tolani Odeyemi; Ikorodu division, Engr. Oladimeji Oshinowo; Lagos division, Alhaji Satar Mohammed Arilesere and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adeyemi Fashola.
