Former Governor of Ogun State. Otunba Gbenga Daniel has given hint on the possible coalition of the People Democratic Party (PDP), the Socialist Democratic Party (SDP) and other political parties as the race to 2019 general election gathers momentum.
Addressing a caucus meeting of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere in Akure yesterday, the front line politician, agreed with the leaders present on the need to develop a very strong political structure to engage the country on the interests of the Yoruba people.
Otunba Daniel, who also dropped the hint about his intention to coordinate the presidential campaigns of former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar informed the gathering which comprised eminent Yoruba leaders of his intention to work closely with them in the presidential bid assignment.
According to him, “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar remains one of the very few northern politicians and leaders who, not only believes in the concept of restructuring but shares equal passion with well meaning Yoruba leaders for its actualisation which is a sine-qua-non to political participation in the Southwest”.
He then reiterated the belief of the PDP leadership to cooperate with SDP and other parties and organizations with similar ideologies to form one strong opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)which has always been against the restructuring of the country.
Earlier, Otunba Daniel was applauded for his supportive roles in the sustenance of the Afenifere in and out of office and the belief in his unwavering support for the progress of the Yoruba race.
The meeting was chaired by Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fashoranti with other leaders in attendance including Chief Olu Falae, Senator Banji Akintoye, Senator Femi Okurounmu, former Governor Segun Mimiko, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Adegbenka Kaka, Dr. Akingba and a host of other distinguished leaders across Yorubaland.
