The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has enjoined Nigerians to reorient themselves in order to recover all values lost over time.
The Governor made this known during a courtesy visit by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ondo Chapter led by its State Director, Mr Bode Famose in Akure.
According to the Governor, our major problem in this county is not orientation, but reorientation.
“We need to reoriente our people. We have lost our values and there is need for us to regain it. It’s for historians to tell us at what point we lost it.
“Many things are wrong and for us to get our orientation, something must happen. We worship money, all of us, nobody is exempted. All of us are guilty of it”, he said.
The Governor further said the 5200 beneficiaries of N-power, one of the Federal Governments social investment programme, would be deployed in next two weeks to handle social mobilization and assist in creating awareness for the programme.
Earlier, Mr Bode Famose, Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ondo State, said the 5200 beneficiary for the N-power program could be put to better use in Ondo State.
“The Federal Government investment programs are five: Home Grown School Feeding Programme, Government Economic Empowerment Programme, Nigeria-Power Job Creation Programme, Conditional Cash Transfers, and Social Housing Fund.
“Only N-power is on ground in Ondo and a lot of teething problems were encountered. We registered 5200 beneficiaries between 18 and 35 years, resident in Ondo with 99 percent as indigenes.
“We want the state government to look into the issue of resolving all the teething problems because they are doing almost nothing. We can use them for social mobilization or community mobilization,” he said.
Famose further emphasized on the need for security awareness, though no insurgency in the state.
“We still need to be vigilant and conscious of the situation,” he said.
