The Celestial Church of Christ has launched a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Yoruba Nollywood actress, Temitope Osoba, assuring the public that anyone found responsible, including its Shepherd, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, will face the appropriate consequences.

The church disclosed this in a statement signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, AVSE Kayode Ajala, following Osoba’s death on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Her death has sparked widespread concern and emotional reactions across the country.

According to the church, the public response was understandable, particularly because the actress died at the age of 40 after reportedly overcoming breast cancer. Suspicions surrounding the alleged involvement of her fiancé, Onadeko, have further heightened public concern over the circumstances of her death.

The church expressed deep sorrow over Osoba’s passing and extended its condolences to her family, relatives and loved ones. It also acknowledged the concern caused by the involvement of one of its Shepherds in the controversy, noting that the situation had placed the church in an embarrassing position.

While distancing itself from allegations of idolatry, occult practices, black magic, cultism and the use of charms, the church stressed that the Celestial Church of Christ is a Bible-believing Christian organisation guided by established spiritual principles and a constitutional code of conduct.

Describing the allegations against Onadeko as disturbing, the church said it would not remain silent while its reputation was subjected to public condemnation. It confirmed that an internal investigation had commenced to establish the events leading up to Osoba’s death and determine what actually occurred.

The church also called on the police and other relevant security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation, assuring them of its full cooperation in the pursuit of truth and justice.

The Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, His Eminence Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, was also said to have assured Osoba’s family and the wider public that the church’s internal processes were being activated to uncover the truth and ensure justice.

The church further stated that should the allegations against Onadeko be proven, he would face the appropriate disciplinary measures under the church’s rules, in addition to being subjected to the full force of the law.

It maintained that the ongoing investigation was essential to establish the facts surrounding Osoba’s death and ensure that the matter was addressed transparently and through due process.
