…urges members to give their total support to the new exco.
The newly elected President of Community Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (COMPASS- the umbrella body of community media in Nigeria), Tayo Aderinola has applauded the electoral committee saddled with responsibility of conducting a credible election for doing a great job.
According to the Tayo who said he was delighted with the way and manner the exercise was conducted without any irregularities that had in the time past marred some elections in some places.
“On behalf of the exco, I want to sincerely thank everyone who participated one way or the other to the success of what I will call free and fair election held today. This is to show that we’re indivisible in our quest to hit the ground running to push our association to the next level”.
“This is a team work, so we must all be committed to the growth and progress of the association (COMPASS) while I’m also assuring you that our tenure will be piloted and guided with the theme for this tenure tagged “Work and Pray”. he opined
He further appealed to all members to cooperate and support the newly elected officials of the association where and when necessary in order for them to achieve the target goals and move the association to the next level.
The election which commenced at about 11:15 on Tuesday 3rd September, 2019 in Ikeja, Lagos had notable members of association in attendance while those who were not physically present due unforseen situation were given opportunity to vote online thereby resulting in free and fair election while those who lost at the poll congratulated the winners as they urged the exco to always remember to carry the members along.
However, the election exercise was the first of its kind in the history of the association while the exco has been handed the mandate to run the affair of the association for two years as the tenure expires in 2021.
Meanwhile, the association’s social media handles have been bombarded with congratulatory messages from association members, families and well-wishers of the elected officials to felicitate with them on the well deserved honour and privilege to serve.
