The governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Odunayo Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has called on the Federal Government to dualise all roads that link the state to neighbouring states.

Akeredolu made the appeal while playing host to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing Mr. Babatunde Fashola in his office Thursday.

According to him, the dualisation of roads become necessary to bust the economy activities within and outside the state.

Those roads he identified for dualisation and rehabilitation include Akure/Benin and Isua/Ipele roads that link the state with Edo and Kogi states respectively.

He however disclosed that the state government are in the last few year expended enough money that would have been used to improve the state on the rehabilitation of federal roads in the state.

While commending the federal government of assurance of refunding money expended on federal roads, he expressed appreciation on the effort of the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration to improve the living standard of the people since 2015.

The governor also used the occasion to appealed to the federal government to step down the Omotosho power plant to alleviate the suffering of the people in the areas of power supply.

According to him, the people of Akoko land in the Ondo North Senatorial District and their Southern Senatorial District counterpart had been in total darkness in the last four years.

He said the BEDC a private company that threw those areas in darkness be told to review their stand on those that are indebtedness to them.

Earlier in his address, the Minister assured that preparation is in top gear by the federal government to make refund of all monies expended by the states on federal roads.

He disclosed that verification is on going on various projects to form the bases of payment in due time.

He also disclosed that the federal government has entered into partnership initiatives with a private company to increase the housing stock in Ondo state.

The Minister disclosed that twelve contractors have been mobilised to construct a good number of one, two, and three bed room units at Eleyowo along Owo Road.

He reiterated his readiness to assist the state to benefit from Federal government projects, adding that work has already begun on Benin/Ore/Ofosu roads.
