The Bayelsa State House of Assembly under the able leadership of Rt. Hon. Abraham Ongobere has tasks Journalists on credible investigative reportage.
The speaker of the Assembly, ably represented by Hon. (Barr.) Tare Porri, former pragmatic youth leader, presently, the House Committee chairman on information representing Ekeremor constituency two of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, while addressing cross section of Journalists at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly in heralding the agenda of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly for the year 2021.
The distinguished law maker in his speech who was full of excitement noted emphatically that the Bayelsa State House of Assembly has done well, stressing that although more is still required, while thanking all the members of the state House of Assembly, the staff and all the Assembly aids for the great support in making the six Assembly a huge success.
Hon. Porri further disclosed that the year 2021, the Assembly has robust legislative agenda to surpass the previous year, despites several challenges, notably, the Covid-19 global pandemic, the End SARRS among others. He used the medium to appeal to journalists to project the image of the Assembly, also, to criticize constructively in lay down principles, stressing that it is only collaboration, the Assembly can perform creditably. He equally affirmed equivocally that any media houses fails to meet the set standard will not be condoned and will not be accredited for coverage in the state house of assembly, while those that are credible and projecting the image and development of the state House of Assembly will be surely encourage to enhance ultimate productivity.
While, the pragmatic law maker on behalf of the Assembly lauds Governor Douye Diri, the Executive Governor of the State, stressing that the best is yet to come, also, tasking Bayelsans to support the prosperity government.
For the issues of loans, the law maker stressed that the loans are counterpart funding for the overall benefit of Bayelsans, notably, the central bank loan for Agricultural Development and the Universal Basic Education Boards are great projects the state will enjoy in due course.
while appreciating the press for their credible reportage of the proceedings of the state House of Assembly, noting that more collaborative meetings will be accorded frequently in enhancing more result oriented partnership, stressing that journalists welfare will be his top most concern perhaps of the relevance of media in building societal development, media and security are indispensable factor of societal growth.
Also, the issue of Local newspaper and national newspaper dichotomy, he further stressed that he will address the issue squarely, but noting that the National newspapers have wider coverage than the local newspaperpapers.
