The Chief of Army Staff (COAS),  Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya on Monday charges Nigerian Army on professionalism while discharging their duty, saying that their core responsibility was to defend Nigerians against external foes.

Yahaya while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan during his familiarisation visit to 2 Division of Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment,  stated that Nigerian Army are well trained with professionalism experience of over 185 years ago, adding that they should do more in defending their respective fields.

The Chief of Army Staff said that Nigerian Army are synegising with sister security agencies to tackle insecurity across the country, stressing that he was at cantonment to encourage soldiers to do more.

“Am here as part of my operation visit. Its my duty to go around the country to see the troops on ground and interact with them and address some issues on ground. Am also here to encourage you to do more and also urged you to do your work professionally in line with our teaching and training”, Yahaya said

Part of the assignment performed by the Army Chief include commissioning of Indoor Sport Complex at the Division, commissioning of one Hilux operational van, and the commissioning of the administrative building of Tiger Mini Estate beside the cantonment among others.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji  while speaking showed his displeasure over rising insecurity across the nation, particularly in Ibadanland, calling for urgent step to address it, and also lamented that Nigerians are currently in trouble, urging people to unite and find lasting solution to it.

The first class monarch speaking with journalists in his palace, when the Chief of Staff paid him a courtesy visit pointed out that the role of Nigerian Army in maintaining peace and stability cannot be over emphasized

The royal father represented by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Owolabi Olakulehin emphasised, and lamented that Nigerians are worried with insecurity facing the country, stressing that it is with joint efforts that Nigeria can be better
