The Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division said all private security outfits and vigilante registered or yet to be registered with interest in the division must be duly registered and officially documented.
Mr Wasiu Adesina, the Chairman Ikorodu Local Government gave the order on behalf of other chairmen during a press briefing organiséd by the councils in Ikorodu.
Adesina, said private security outfit that are ready to commence operation should go to their respective LG and LCDA’s where they intend to operate for their documentation and registration.
“In registering, all private security outfits, vigilante group or any entity registered with Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC) or not with interest in security in Ikorodu division of Lagos State, Nigeria must submit their profiles.
“They must also submit Resume of all their directors and personnel as well as their equipments (armunitions) to the LG and LCDA where they intend to operate for onward submission to the Nigeria Police Force.
“In response to the growing security challenges in almost all part of Lagos State,across the nation and as a proactive measures to booster the security architecture of Ikorodu division in the state,” he said.
He said that they are ready to work with private security outfits or vigilante group that were either registered or not, however described with interest in security in the division that have satisfied the requirements as stated by the LG and the LCDA’s.
According to him, they would neither abdicate nor abandon prerogatives and responsibilities of making sure that patrotic good people of the division are not left unprotected from unconstitutional or unlawful activities.
The council boss said the unlawful activitied contrived not only to whittle down the efforts of the government but to also make the people susceptible and vulnerable to all manners of vicious elements impostors without credible records on security matters .
However, they said security outfit that have not satisfied the requirements laid down by the councils are prohibited from carrying out any form of activities,launching or inauguration whatsoever called in any part of Ikorodu division in Lagos State.
He warned any private security outfit who engages in any form of breach shall be deemed not only as unlawful but as a breach of relevant sections of the extant Nigerian Constitution and the criminal code.
The chairmen assured residents of initiating security trust fund at the local level as well as to also established joint taskforce that would be independent to reinvigurate the security architecture of the division.
They promised to hold the joint security summit on quarterly basis with Nigeria Police, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency( NDLEA), Department of State Security(DSS)Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Neigbourhood Corp (LNSC) with all the stakeholders and promised it would be sustained.
“We express our gratitude for the effort and cooperation of the security agencies and all other security establishments that have been working with us in the division.
“They work with for ensuring peace, order and security of lives and properties in the division, we urge you to keep the good works.
“We shall continue to work and remain committed to the security of lives and properties in our geographical jurisdiction in Ikorodu by working Nigeria Police, Army and the para-military establishments.
“We will also work with lawful registered bodies, registered entities, trraditional institutions, political leaders among others,” the statement read
Also the DPO’s in Ikorodu division and sister agencies were all present at the press briefing
Other councils are Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Sesan Daini, Chairman Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, Chairman Imota LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA and Hon. Motunrayo Alogba, Chairman Ijede LCDA.
