The Kwara State Government has again warned principals of public schools and private school owners on the need to adhere strictly to safety guidelines of Covid-19 prescribed by NCDC and Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Fatimah Bisola Ahmed gave the warning while monitoring the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Ilorin, today.

In her words, “the level of compliance is low compared to the last time we reopened schools partially. Both students and teachers are indifferent to safety guidelines of NCDC”.

Hajia Ahmed therefore warned principals and private school owners to abide by the rules or face severe sanctions.

   She further stated that, “let me remind you that Covid-19 is real and is still in our midst. Any school that does not comply with the safety guidelines of Covid-19 will be sanctioned or closed down immediately.”

In another development, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Fatimah Bisola Ahmed has warned principals and teachers in the state to desist from any act that can jeopardize the efforts of the present administration in reforming the education sector for effective and efficient performance of  pupils and students.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development said this during the roll call at some of the schools visited earlier today.

In her words, “the State Government will not tolerate indiscipline in our schools. Any teacher that is found wanting on his/her duty will be sanctioned in accordance with civil service rules”.

She  reiterated the call on parents and guardians to report any school that asked for third term fees to the Ministry for necessary actions.

“I want to use this medium to call on both parents and guardians to join hands with the present administration in its efforts to make sure that our pupils and students have access to quality and sound  education delivery in the state,” she said. Some of the school visited were St. Anthony Secondary School, C&S College, G, Tanke and Flora Schools, all are in Ilorin Metropolis
