Daddy, I want a phone. A fourteen year old said to his father.
“Why do you need the phone”? The father asked.
“All my classmates have one “. The boy replied.
“Then you don’t know why you need a phone, so I won’t buy any for you”. The father said.
About two months later, the father bought an android phone for the boy so as to make up for his absence at the boy’s school open day.
Was the phone a problem? No. It was the father’s inconsistency. He couldn’t meet up to his responsibility and thus has to bow to the child’s request.
The man has not only failed himself, he has failed the child.
Many times, children learn from what parents do than what they are told.
Once your words are not the same with your actions, you are training a rebel.
Do not be too busy to lower your standard.
You are a parent, a role model, a mentor to your child.
