The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chief, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu -Gambari CFR has reiterated that the yearly grand Durbar celebration in Ilorin is among other things to reinvigorate the culture and the tradition of the people of Ilorin Emirate.

According to him , activities such as Durbar will further reunite the citizens of the Emirate irrespective of their differences while it will also give the people particularly those in diaspora the urge to come home and fratanise with their kingsmen.

The Emir expressed these views yesterday at his Palace when he received the report of the 2021 Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee  led by it’s Chairman, Engineer Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa, FNSE, the Danmasani of Ilorin.

Alhaji Sulu Gambari who commended members of the Durbar Committee for making him proud before, during and after the event , expressed satisfaction with the way and manner the event was organised devoid of ranchor and breach of peace.

The monarch urged the Committee to commence early preparations against the 2022 durbar event and equally enjoined them particularly historians in their midst to set aside funds for an Islamic museum in the palace where research work can be carried out.

He appealed to the youths in the Emirate  to shun all social vices and imbibe the culture that is being revived by the Durbar Committee so as to make them responsible citizens that would be recognized across the country and even beyond such as the likes of Late Babatunde Idiagbon, late Justice Mustapha Akanbi and the incumbent  Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.

The Emir appreciated the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, the government and the entire people of the state,  traditional title holders in Ilorin Emirate, those that donated handsomely to the success of the event  and the entire sons and daughters of the entire Emirate for ensuring a hitch free programme.

Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of the committee, Engineer Alapansapa, the Danmasani of Ilorin thanked the Emir for his full support for the Committee stressing that it was what gingered members to work round the clock for the success recorded.

He assured the Emir that work will commence early for next year’s Durbar and described the support he received from members, sons and daughters of the Emirate as very encouraging.

The Danmasani expressed his appreciation to the Emir on his gesture to the nine citizens of the Emirate  that were given titles by the Emir and described their titles as unique, befitting and well taught of by the monarch. While he prayed for God guidance for them, he called on them for improved support to the Durbar committee and activities.

The Chairman apologized   to all indigenes in diaspora who indicated interest to participate in this year Durbar but could not make  it due to Covid19 bareer. He prayed Allah to surmount the problem for the humanity.

He also appreciated youth, and women groups, market and artisan groups, musicians and media programme presenters as well as the Ulama class for their show of support throughout the preparation and execution of the programme and to our visitors.

The Chairman therefore call on corporate organisations, multinational and the likes to be prepared to render support for the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar
