The Commissioner, Ministry of Health, Bayelsa State, Professor Seiyefa Brisibe, visited the marine section of the State ambulance services at the waterfront in the State FMC, Yenagoa, yesterday.

The Commissioner expressed delight in seeing workers on the ground. He reinstated government commitments in the ‘A.S.S.U.R.E.D’ Agenda of the Governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Douye Diri, for a robust healthcare system across the State and the nation.

He stated that water ambulance services are crucial for providing timely medical assistance in areas where traditional road access is limited or non-existent. As such, he encouraged workers to come to work and ensure that the water ambulance services are well-prepared for rapid responses of emergency medical services and treatments across the riverine communities in the State.

The Commissioner assured Bayelsans, especially in remote areas, that going forward, the State Gov’t under the leadership of Gov. Diri cannot allow citizens, especially elderly mothers, to die due to lack of transportation for emergency medical care.

He commended the Governor for approving the revamp of the State’s emergency healthcare facilities, promising refurbishment of all old ones and procurement of new equipment where necessary as part of the robust healthcare system in the ASSURED Agenda.

‘As a Ministry, we will collaborate with other necessary Ministries (Transport, Marine, Blue Economy) and experts to ensure that in the coming days, water ambulance services will continue to effectively serve the people at even higher levels. I encourage you all to support the Prosperity Government’s commitment to building a better and greater Bayelsa State,’ the Commissioner stated.
