facebookThe Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has said that Facebook was committed to support entrepreneurs in Nigeria to ensure that they unlock their full potential.

The Facebook CEO, while speaking at the developers’ workshop telecasted in Eko hotel Lagos, said over 60 million businesses were using Facebook to reach their customers.

“Facebook is where African consumers connect with African entrepreneurs, with millions of people across the continent using our platform to communicate with small businesses each month.

“Over 60 million businesses are using Facebook to help grow their business and connect with customers. While many of the owners and founders are young African entrepreneurs, there should be more. That’s why we are delighted to support entrepreneurs in Nigeria, as Facebook enables young African entrepreneurs to connect, learn and share in a supportive and inspirational environment.

” He noted that Facebook was eager to help more African entrepreneurs turn their businesses into realities, “because we believe that this will help their families, communities and countries to prosper.”

Zuckerberg added that he was excited to visit Nigeria and witness first hand creativity and innovation which is happening in the country.

Ime Archibong, Director General of Product Partnership of Facebook, said he was struck by the energy of technology scene in Nigeria and how many people were building.

“As someone with strong link to Nigeria , I have been trying to expose Mark to this ecosystem for a while , so I am very excited for him to be able to come here and meet some Nigeria’s top entrepreneurs and developers,” Archibong said.
