The Director-General National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has called for the adoption of culture diplomacy to end hate speeches and agitations in Nigeria.
Speaking during the meeting of chief executives of culture in Nigeria held in Kaduna, preparatory to the 30th National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST), Runsewe, said culture properly harness it will replace oil.
NCAC boss further explained that, many countries of the world including 17 African nations have used culture to grow their economy, saying youths have started embracing culture.
Runsewe said: “Our determination is to reposition this sector as a key player in the nation’s economy, viable enough to take the place of oil in national income and wealth generation. As we are all aware, the national festival of Arts and culture (NAFEST) is scheduled to hold here in Kaduna from Sunday October 14 to Sunday October 21, 2017.
“The essence of this meeting is to enable us to tour the facilities that have been put in place for the event by the Kaduna State government, exchanging views and ideas and aggregate our opinions on how to have a very successful and highly impactful NAFEST in the coming weeks”
“I believe culture diplomacy we will solve hate speeches and agitations. We are going to adopt culture diplomacy to solve our problems facing the nation. We will use culture to also replace oil” Runsewe said.
