Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde Wednesday paid on the spot assessment visit to communities affected by the heavy rainfall on Tuesday which wreaked havoc in some parts of Ibadan and rendered many homeless while properties worth millions were destroyed.
The Oyo State helmsman in the company of the officials of the state Ministry of public works, Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project, Oyo state Emergency Management Agency, visited Iwo-road, Olodo, Onipepeye, amongst other places affected by the torrential rain.
During the assessing of the properties affected, Governor makinde posited that he has directed the local government chairman to write approval letter and assured the approval of the letter immediately.
Makinde also revealed that by the time the government were able to get all the project under the Ibadan Urban Flood management Project executed the issue of flooding in the state would be dealt with.
When he was asked on support for the victims of the Flood, he maintained that the ministry of Public Works would evaluate property destroyed after which possible solution would follow suit.
The Governor posited that in the next 18months there would be appreciable improvement on flood management in the state.
