Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and his wife, Tamunomini, have been conferred with the chieftaincy titles of Aare Asoludero of Ibarapa Land and Yeye Aare Asoludero of Ibarapa, respectively.
The titles were bestowed on the couple by the Eleruwa of Eruwa Land, Oba Samuel Adegbola Ajobo Olurin I, during activities marking his first anniversary on the throne and the commissioning of the newly reconstructed Eleruwa Palace in Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
Speaking at the ceremony on Saturday, Makinde thanked the monarch and the people of Eruwa for the honour, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and equitable development across Oyo State.
He assured residents of Ibarapa that ongoing projects in the zone would be completed, particularly the Ido-Eruwa Road, and said the government would explore the possibility of establishing a university campus in the area.
The governor also urged traditional rulers to remain apolitical and continue to provide leadership for all members of their communities, regardless of political affiliation.
Oba Adegbola described Makinde and his wife as “foremost achievers, humanists and accomplished professionals,” saying the honours recognised their contributions to the development of society.
The monarch also appealed to the governor to expedite the completion of key projects in the area, including the Eruwa Farm Settlement and Ido-Eruwa Road.
The ceremony attracted traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders and other dignitaries who joined in celebrating the monarch’s first year on the throne.
