The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji(Dr)Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR,has again been commended for his fascinating leadership qualities exemplified in his material donations in aid of the victims of the recent rainstorm disaster in Ilorin.
This commendation was made on Monday(September 21,2020) by the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, Alhaji Aliyu O. Uthman, fsi, while receiving four hundred bundles of roofing sheets worth over Six Million(N6,000,000:00) from the Emir for onward distribution to deserved victims of the disaster.
A statement signed by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Abubakar Imam, quoted the IEDPU President to have said that the prompt positive reaction of the Emir to the incident has confirmed “his generosity and exemplary leadership,which has characterized his glorious tenure in the last twenty-five years”.
Alhaji Uthman assured the Emir that the Committee on the Distribution of the Relief Item,which consists of himself and the leadership of the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA), would ensure that only the less-privileged ones benefit from the distribution.
Earlier,the Emir said that he was moved by the magnitude of loss suffered by his people to come up with the assistance,which he hoped would reduce the suffering of the beneficiaries.
The Royal Father also pleaded with both the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government as well as international organisations and corporate outfits to assist the victims.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari also encouraged well-to-do indigenes of Ilorin Emirate to assist their compatriots with all or some of what they require to reduce the burden placed on them by the disaster.
He added that the more we assist others,particularly those in need at this critical time, the more divine blessings we are bound to receive from the Almighty Allah.
