The Kwara State Taskforce on Immunization and Primary Healthcare has solicited more support from stakeholders ahead of the next exercise coming up next Saturday.
This call came to fore at the meeting of the Taskforce held at the Conference Room of the Office of the Deputy Governor in Ilorin.
The Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Taskforce, Mr Kayode Alabi commended the Executive Secretary of the state’s Primary Healthcare Development Agency and her team as well as the partnering organisation, the World Health Organisation for their contribution in making Nigeria polio-free.
Mr Alabi called for the sustenance of the excellent work in the forthcoming exercise and other programs of the agency, stressing that the government would always give the necessary support.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Nusirat Elelu, highlighted the processes that led to Nigeria’s certification as polio-free and called for sufficient funding to sustain the agency’s surveillance and immunisation activities.
Dr Elelu appreciated the cooperation and support the agency enjoyed from the government and stakeholders, mostly religious and traditional leaders in the state and solicited for more during the subsequent exercise.
The meeting which was chaired by the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Taskforce was attended by stakeholders in the Primary Healthcare in the state as well as partnering organisations.
