The Lagos football fans have showered praises on FC Robo Queens striker, Gift Monday following her scintillating performances she displayed against visiting team, Osun Babes in week two of Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL which was held yesterday across seven centers in the country.
The much awaited encounter ended 3-1 in favour of FC Robo Queens of Lagos as Lagos fans commended the resilience of home team especially Monday who tormented opponents defence throughout the high tension soaked tie.
Monday, who failed to score against Nasarawa Amazon in Lafia in week one scored hat trick to send warning signal to other teams that would confront her team in subsequent matches.
Her football artistry caught the attention of fans as she stole the show throughout the pulsating encounter watched by few crowd at the Astro Turf of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Commenting on Monday’s performance, President of FC Robo Queens, Mathew Yeyi has expressed gratitude to God for the hard victory pointed that Monday’s first goal in almost end of the half time was a relieve to fans.
“We missed several scoring chances at the beginning of the encounter but we thank God that our first goal came during first half. Monday was outstanding today (Wednesday) and I am happy that we got the three points at stake,” he said.
In his own comment, Okanlawon Adepegba said both Esther Onyenezide and Monday were delight to watch because the duo really helped the team to achieve the victory.
Adepegba said he would not forget to mention Maria and Kehinde and other players for the job well done noting that the victory would spur them to do well in subsequent matches.
Some fans who spoke with our correspondent described Monday’s performance as a good one and praise the Lagos team for putting smile on the faces of Lagos fans.
Commenting on the team’s performance, Coach Emmanuel Osahon said he was satisfied with the outcome of result but charged his players to remain resolute and focused in their next match against Bayelsa Queens.
“ It was a good match because we won today( Wednesday) but I still need more from my players because we have a long way to go and I have seen other results across the centres and showed that this league is going to be tough for all teams,” he said.
