Lagos State Enforces Safeguarding and Protection Policies in Model Colleges.
The Lagos State Safety Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students in Lagos State Model Colleges.
The Director-General Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, who was represented by the Technical Adviser, Mr. Seun Awojobi, at the training program tagged: Safety sensitization for house managers, food vendors and stakeholders in Lagos State Model Colleges said the training was aimed to educate House Managers, Food vendors and Stakeholders in Lagos State Model Colleges on the need to prioritize safety and security in boarding schools.
He noted that the Lagos State Safety Commission has been working tirelessly to ensure that all schools in the state adhere strictly to safety standards and protocols. “As a responsible government, safety of our students cannot be compromised, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students to learn and grow,” .
Mr. Awojobi, highlighted the critical roles house managers and vendors play in ensuring the safety and security of students in boarding schools.
According to him, the Safety sensitization program is part of the state government’s efforts to prioritize the safety and well-being of students in Lagos State Model Colleges.
He disclosed that the Commission will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that all schools in the state adhere to safety standards and protocols; “You are the eyes and ears of the school and we rely on you to help us identify potential safety risks and prevent accidents,”.
He urged the participants to cascade and implement the knowledge and skills acquired in their schools adding that “Together we can create a safe and secure environment for our students to thrive”.
The Special Adviser on Education in Ogun State and former Director General, Education Quality Assurance in Lagos State, Dr. Ronke Soyombo in her remarks spoke extensively on effective quality service delivery, optimum house keeping, emotional intelligence, safety and security of the students and crowd control in boarding school system.
Retired Director, Public Safety and Wellbeing at the Commission, Mr. Adeyinka Adebiyi spoke on food safety and hygiene, risk and hazard identification.
The Principal, Lagos State Junior Model College Badore, Mrs Soyoye Bamidele Oredola spoke on effective communication said house masters and care givers should be good listeners, they should be ready to help profer solutions to the challenges of students in their care.
The Chief Fire officer, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Engr. Olukotun Odunayo and Mrs Bosede Akanni both spoke on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), evacuation procedures, assembly points, proper usage of fire extinguisher and alarm, fire prevention and fire management.
Participants at the program includes house managers, food vendors, and stakeholders from various Lagos State Model Colleges who were provided with training materials and signages to help them implement safety protocols and procedures in their respective schools.
