Late Opasina

Oyo State Heads of Tertiary Institutions on 30 June, 2020 paid a condolence visit to the College Provost, Dr. Rasak A. Adefabi, FIEN, FCAI, J.P over the demise of the College Bursar, Alh. Lukman Adeniyi Opasina, J.P who died on Thursday, 25 June, 2020.

The team which comprises of Managements of The Polytechnic, Ibadan; Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igbo-Ora; College of Education, Lanlate, The Polytechnics, Oke – Ogun and Ibarapa  sympathized with the Provost and the College Management while Managements of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso and the First Technical University, Ibadan sent in their condolences as well. They all prayed for the repose of the   departed soul.

Responding, the Provost, Dr. Rasak A. Adefabi, FIEN, FCAI, J.P thanked the leaders of all tertiary institutions for sparing part of their precious time to console with him, his Management and the entire College community on the ugly development. He said “the late Bursar was a complete gentleman whose contributions to the development of the College would be sorely missed. May God put a stop to untimely death among us”, he prayed.

In a related development, the Ibadan Descendant Union, EACOED Chapter equally pays a condolence visit to the Provost and the deceased’s family at his Ibadan residence. The IDU Chairman, Alh. J. B. Jimoh who spoke on behalf of the delegation stated that “late Alh. Opasina was a strong pillar to the IDU. “He was a great leader to us and we shall surely miss him”. Prayers were later offered .

 The Provost, Dr. Rasak A. Adefabi, FIEN, FCAI, J.P also  thanked members of the IDU. He further described the late College Bursar as a solid man. According to him, “Late Opasina was a reliable, trustworthy and highly transparent person. He lived an exemplary life”. He finally urged the Ibadan Descendants Union to be more united while assuring them of the College Management’s support at all times.

Also, the leadership of the  Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), EACOED Chapter  were not left out in condolence visit,. The  Chairman, NASU, Comrade Adetunji Adeshina commiserated with the Provost and prayed for the College community. The Provost expresses his appreciation to  the Union for their  support for the College Management and for joining hands with him towards the progress and upliftment of the College.

He therefore admonish  NASU team and their members never to waste their precious time in life but keep pushing and striving to achieve their individually set goals. Again, Provost advised them to desist from the idea of compare oneself with other rather they should dwell in their individual ability and strength.
