A political Analyst, Hon. Garo has expressed concern over the crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) as he called on warring groups under the leadership of Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi to sheath their swords
Hon. Garo who is also a Chieftain of PDP in a statement which he made available to News Men in Akure said, the continued turmoil troubling the party has reduced it to shrived of the giant it once claimed to be.
According to him, today, PDP in Nigeria still remain the strongest opposition to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC),in a political that has migrated from a multi system in 1999 to almost a two party system.
The current prevailing , he said is arguable that the country has a one party system judging by the spate of defectors to the APC, adding that some are joining APC for refuge from EFCC, others for the means of their livelihood and sustenance.
The Idanre born politician also argued whether PDP is capable of performing the expected role of opposition during these trying period in the nation’s democracy.
His words, ” Whilst being embroiled in vicious court battles there seems no end in sight, even though
commentators believe the anticipated Supreme Court ruling in the near future will finally bring an end to the power struggle between Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi”.
The duo, he said, are only struggling for coveted prize, ”the golden egg which are not a new thing in politics or indeed in ordinary human coexistence”.
As a dedicated party member, he asked some pertinent questions in view of the body language of the main protagonist that now that PDP is in opposition who are the focus of her political attack?
He cautioned that the two groups should stop opposing one another, but rather the ruling party which shared different tag and ideology with them.
