The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the sustainable growth and development of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector through strengthened collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by members of the NCC Board, led by its Chairman, Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja. The visit provided a platform for both parties to deliberate on strategies aimed at deepening cooperation between the state government and the Commission to further advance the telecommunications industry in Lagos State.

During the meeting, discussions centred on addressing key industry challenges, enhancing digital infrastructure, and creating an enabling environment that supports innovation, investor confidence and sustainable growth within the telecoms ecosystem.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described Lagos as a critical stakeholder in Nigeria’s digital landscape, noting that the state, widely recognised as the Centre of Excellence, remains committed to policies and initiatives that promote technological advancement and economic development. He reiterated the readiness of the Lagos State Government to work closely with the NCC to strengthen the sector and drive long-term sustainability.

The governor also assured the visiting Board members of the state’s determination to foster a robust and resilient telecommunications ecosystem, in line with Lagos State’s role as Nigeria’s economic hub.

In their remarks, members of the NCC Board commended the Lagos State Government for its consistent support of the telecommunications sector and expressed optimism that enhanced collaboration would further improve digital connectivity and contribute to economic growth across the state.
