Seven people have been reportedly kinapped by armed men who emerged from the buch and stopped a Siena bus in transit from Ekiti state on it’s way to Ilorin between Oke-Onogbin and Eleyin in Irepodun Local Government Area of KWARA state on Saturday, our correspondent learnt.
Speaking on this backdrop the Police Public Relations Officer,SP,Okasanmi Ajayi In a press release confirmed the incident saying five of the seven kidnapped had been rescued by the police.
The released read in part, Reports of two kidnapped incidents we’re reported simultaneously by the KWARA state Police Command on Saturday August 7th at about 1735 hrs. to the effect that, along Oke-onigbin Omuaran Highway and Ekiti Ekanmeje axis that six armed emerged form the bush and stopped a Siena bus in transit from Ekiti state on the way to Ilorin and the seven occupants of the vehicle were marched in to the bush.
The command promptly dispatched it’s tactical units comprising the Anti-kidnapping and Anti- cultic units, joined by local hunters and vigilante members while police patrols on the routes were alerted.
The abducted were instantly chased into the bushes, while four of the seven rescued, efforts are still in top gear to get the remaining three rescued.
The statement further added that some suspects have apprehended and aiding the police in their investigations.
