The 20 people who were killed during the attacks on Kwatas Community in the Bokos Local Government Area of the state by herdsmen have been given a mass burial.
It was learnt that two other victims would be taken to Shendam and Mushere for burial on Friday as their tradition were said not to permit mass burial.
Fulani herdsmen attacked the Kwatas community on Sunday and Monday.
Some of the villagers who spoke to our correspondent after the burial said they never envisaged the attack.
A community leader, Mr Benjamin Shaweng, said, “We have just buried 20 of our people killed by herdsmen. Two other persons will be taken to their place in Shendam and Mushere for burial on Friday in line with their tradition and wishes of their immediate family.
Governor Simon Lalong on Thursday visited the family of a student of the University of Maiduguri, Ropvil Daciya Dalep, who was killed by terrorists in Borno State.
Lalong, who had earlier sent a delegation to the family, said he was distressed by the murder of the student who was on his way to the university.
The governor, in a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Government House, Dr Macham Makut, said, “If the killers of Dalep justified it with the fact that he was from Plateau State and a Christian, then it means he died for Plateau State and we will not forget him.”
