Chelsea were the first to score in the 33rd minute at Stamford Bridge when Torres did a yeoman job from the right flank before square playing to Andre Schurrle who only needed a tap in to score his first EPL goal for Chelsea.

Half time

Jose Mourinho’s side kept the lead going for half time but City returned strongly for the second half and they were back to level terms five minutes after the break through Argentine goal poacher Sergio Aguero.

Effect

Sunday’s Week 9 tie was looking like it was going to end in a stalemate before Torres who seem to have gained more confidence under Mourinho got the late winner for Chelsea and thus take them back to secondd spot on the log behind Arsenal and just above Liverpool on golas difference
