Vocational Training A Sure Way to Eradicate Poverty  Says YMDF

 

Chief Ben Willy, Technical Adviser to Yenagoa Metropolitan Development foundation (YMDF) one of the social-cultural development organisations in Bayelsa State has declared that one viable way to ease the plights of vulnerable women and youths in Bayelsa state was to enhance vocational training, using local resources.

 

Chief Willy made this at the closing ceremony of four days capacity building workshop for youths in Yenagoa as part of its social corporate responsibility in reducing poverty reduction strategy in its core mandates; to give vulnerable that would make them economically independent in their life endeavours.  Stressing that the foundation will do his best in supporting government activities in giving the needed attention to the citizens, noting that the youths play significant role in shaping the society. The basic aim was to curb unemployment, empower citizens towards self-reliance and achieve viable economy.

 

While Willy used the medium to appreciate the Executive Chairman Yenagoa city council, Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari for his one year in office, thanking him for his developmental strides by giving several scholarships to PhD Students in various universities and other viable projects he have executed within one year of his tenure.

 

Also, tasking him to execute peoples oriented projects to improve the living standard of the people that gave him the mandate of Leadership.

In attendance of the great event where: Dr Richard Odiowei an educational consultant, Mrs Olivia Johnsnon, Hon Philip Jeremiah Eke, the Bayelsa State Executive Director Teachers without Borders, among others that gave lectures and solidarity speeches in encouraging participants.

 

The high point of the event was the presentation of Bayelsa State Personality icon awards to very important personalities in Bayelsa State and in Nigeria General.
