Alleged cultist

The Lagos State police command has arrested over 26 suspected cultists member in Epe area of the Lagos Metropolis.

The suspected Aiye confraternity group  were arrested during an initiation ceremony in a forest very early of 23rd june 2018 at Epe in Lagos Island. Some of the group member came from various part of southwest for the initiation,arms and ammunition were also recovered from them,according to lagos state police commissioner,Edgal Imohinmi.

Five out of these alleged members denied being a member of the group, “we were tortured by police and forced  to write false statement”. According to a 20years old Adams Rasheed, i work as Driller, i was  going to meet my Oga (boss) at a site where we were drilling borehole around 7am on Saturday when the policemen arrested me at stop bus, force me to write statement that I am a cult member after much tortured.

Another suspect,Owolabi Sanni  25 year old said, i am being tortured since Saturday,I am not a cult member,he insisted. “Police arrested me on my way to my workshop, they denied me access to my family nobody knows mine where about” .” How can police force someone to accept what he did not know about”,the young boy queried.

The Commissioner of Police,  Imohimi Edgal who paraded all the suspects involving in crime and criminality, stated that investigations were ongoing. He appealed to parents to always monitor the activities of their children to ensure that they are not lured into deadly group.
