Lagos State House of Assembly has organised a 3-day budget retreat to address service delivery to Lagosians in the post-COVID era.
The theme of the retreat titled “ADDRESSING THE SERVICE DELIVERY PRIORITIES OF LAGOSIANS IN THE POST COVID ERA: ISSUES, OPPORTUNITIES AND OPTIONS”, which holds at the Orchid Hotels in Lekki, aims to provide a platform for the House to reflect and effectively review the Y2022-Y2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF and ensuring the implementation of its oversight.
It would be recalled that the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented the Budget for the Y2022 titled, Budget of Consolidation at the House on 24th November, 2021 which was committed to the Joint Committees on Economic Planning & Budget and Finance for further legislative scrutiny.
Therefore, the House support participants of the retreat to critically review the State Y2022 budget strategies and issues for engagement with Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs during their budget defense.
The retreat further seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of the Lagos State Fiscal Law/ Public financial management Law and ancillary matters.
In his welcome address, the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko, implored all participants to contribute effectively as issues discussed will have a significant impact on Lagosians being represented by the Lawmakers.
Speaking on the expected outcome of the retreat, Mrs. Oghogho Olabisi, Hybitel Limited, stated that the retreat will support the Lawmakers to dispassionately engage the MDAS in their defense sessions.
