The Youth Ministry of the Church of the Lord (Prayer Fellowship) worldwide has advised on Nigerian youths against being used as instrument of violence during 2019 general elections.
Theme of this year’s convention taking place at the Baptist Convention Secretariat is: “Sons of the Light”.
“Government and individual should not intentionally engage our young people as instrument of violence during the 2019 general elections in the country,” Adebayo said.
He added that the youth ministry of Church of the Lord would do its best to educate Nigerian youths not to be used as instrument of violence and destruction during the elections.
“The power that we have as youths of this country is our PVC and we should not use it to mortgage our future by collecting N500 during elections to vote against our conscience,” he added.
The youth leader also expressed concern over the lopsided fight against corruption by the present government.
Adebayo, who appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for his fight against corruption in the country, said he should not be a one sided affair.
“Federal Government should fight corruption at both sides; both the opposition and the ruling party should be examined.
“Any fight against corruption that is targeted against the people in the opposition is not good enough.
“Are we saying that all the players in the ruling party are not corrupt? Why is it that only those in opposition are been tried? This is not too good,” he added.
Adebayo therefore called on the federal government to do all it can to beam its search light to those in the ruling party.
“For the fight against corruption to be acceptable and just must be all encompassing,” he added.
The Christian Youth leader called on the federal government to respect rule of law and obey court order and release Shiite leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and former Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki from detention.
He said the two men have been granted bail by competent court of jurisdiction, but government refused to obey the order of the court.
Adebayo advised federal government to make any form of empowerment available to the people and 5not be for party members alone.
According to him, Trader Money of the federal government was funded by Nigeria money, beneficiaries should not be limited to party loyalists alone,
“To fight unemployment and empowerment, beneficiaries of the fund should not be restricted to APC members, opposition should be included in the scheme,” Adebayo said.
