Barring any last minutes changes, members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, have concluded plans to defect to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party before 29th May, 2020.

The news of their planned defection was seen as contained in a press release issued  and signed on Tuesday by the party’s State Youths Leader, Hon. Kehinde Giwa.

The statement reads thus:

“Today the ADC State Youth Leader Hon. Kehinde Giwa, State House of Assembly candidate in the last elections Hon Ahmed Akindipe Akinsumbo, Former Leader of the Local Government Legislature Hon. Olansile Olaniyi and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) along with thousands of our followers and supporters hereby announce our decision to join forces with the ruling party PDP in order to bring improved services to the people of Oyo state.”

“Our decision to leave the ADC for PDP is solely to join hands with His Excellency Eng. Seyi Makinde in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.”

“You all can attest to the great work the governor is doing and to continue staying away from such good work would amount to insensitivity to the need of our people.”

“We, therefore, wish to state that henceforth, we shall act in accordance with the principles, ideals, aims and objectives of the PDP in ensuring that the government of Eng. Seyi Makinde keeps delivering the improved services it started since May 2019 to the good people of Oyo state.”

We thank the leadership of the PDP under the able chairman Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, the ever reliable Secretary Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke and other leaders of the party in the state.

Meanwhile, attempts by  Integrity Reporters to speak with the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the last election Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and the current Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun proved abortive as they failed to pick their calls.

Lanlehin and Olatunbosun both hail from Ibadan North-West Local Government and they remain  members of the ADC while their followers are moving to the PDP.
