Baptist College of Theology, Igede Ekiti at the weekend graduated 55 students for the 2016/2017 Academic session.

Among those that graduated in Diploma in Theology were the Shepard of Bethel Baptist Church, Ilesa, Pastor Folorunsho Taiwo Gideon and his Calvary Baptist Church, Ilesa counterpart, Pastor Doctor Mrs. Olayemi Oluwafunmilola Olanike.

Pastor Dr. Olayemi is one of the Directors of Gold FM, Ilesa, a seasoned Broadcaster, a trained Journalist and a former student of College of Education, Ilesa where she obtained a National Certificate in Education ( NCE).

While 22 others graduated in the same course, three graduated in Diploma in Religious Education, five in Special Diploma in Theology, Certificate of Theology had nine and Certificate in Pastoral Ministry had 14 graduands.

In his welcome address, the Rector of the Institution, Rev. Dr. Olugbenga S. Olagunju called on all stakeholders to put heads together to ensure that the College is moved from a glorious secondary school to a University or Seminary of her status.

He used the occasion to catalogue the needs of the College which according to him include, a College Clinic, a standby Mikano power generator that could render 24 hours service, a new Chapel Administrative block and an hostel accommodation for married students.

In his own challenge to the graduands, the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Prof. Niyi Okunola challenged the Rector to follow the footsteps of his predecessor by laying in those foundations her met on ground.

He called on the graduating students to keep their heads above board, not compromising but rather remain resolute to their mission.

Also, the Guest Speaker at the occasion, Prof. Julius Fakunle stressed the importance of the year 2017 theme which is, ”Be faithful and Fruitful in your Ministry” by being focused to God’s direction at all times.
