Chief Coach of professional football league outfit MFM Football Club of Lagos Tony Bolus has urged the League Management Company, LMC to rescind its decision and allow them play all their league matches at Agege Stadium.
Recently the LMC listed 13 stadia across the country to host league matches while 11 others including the Agege stadium failed the accreditation process with the LMC stating that various aspects of the stadium need to be upgraded.
The stadiums listed by the LMC for upgrade or repairs are Umuahia Township Stadium, Dutse Township Stadium, Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, Agege Stadium, Lagos; Akure Township Stadium; Warri City Stadium and New Jos Stadium.
The Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, Lafia Township Stadium, Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium, Nnewi and Fufure Stadium, Yola are the other stadiums expected to be upgraded.
Bolus in an exclusive chat with our correspondent recently at Agege Stadium said he is worried when the organizers mentioned that Agege Stadium was among the venues that failed to meet the LMC requirements.
“ I am not happy when we heard that Agege Stadium is among the venue that would not host premier leagues matches in the new season.MFM is a club that play all their matches at Agege Stadium.
“When we qualified for continental ticket years ago, the CAF team inspected the stadium and gave approval but now the same stadium that CAF approved for CAF club continental cannot host premier matches again, something has gone wrong somewhere.
“We are using this medium to appeal to the organizers to consider Agege Stadium so that MFM can continue play in their home ground instead of playing in another terrain we are not used to, “he said.
