POLICE-LOGO-300x187Two police officers attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit have died in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in Alausa area of the state due to dangerous driving and over-speeding.

Eye- witness account revealed that the taskforce officers engaged in abnormal over-speed in a short distance of about 500 metres between their office and the State House of Assembly within Alausa area.

Our correspondent further gathered that the tragedy which struck on Wednesday night lead to instant death one of the officers while the second died in hospital on Thursday as the incident has thrown the taskforce headquarters in a mourning mood.

There were insinuations that the officers might have gotten drunk as the distance between the taskforce office and the State House of Assembly were the accident occurred was just about 500 metres.

The police officer who drove the vehicle was said to be on top speed when the accident occurred.

A taskforce source who craved anonymity wondered how such an accident could have occurred at such a short distance, concluding that the police officer who drove the vehicle was driving in abnormal speed.
