SOCIAL REFORMERS CLUB GIVES Palliatives TO COMMUNITY

In a bid to alleviate hardship being experienced in the country, a socio- cultural group, Social Reformers Club of Nigeria, has organized distribution of food items as palliatives to the less privileged within their domain in Abule- Egba axis of Lagos State.

The club also extended the distribution of palliatives to mosques, churches and people within the community as its own way of giving back to the society.

A member of House of Representatives, representing Ifako/Ijaiye federal constituency, Hon. Benjamin Olabinjo was the special guest of honour at the event.

In his brief speech, Olabinjo was full of appreciation to the club for given out willingly to the less privileged in the society. He equally urged the people present to show appreciation to the club for their benevolence and kindness.

Olabinjo added that the Federal government palliatives will soon be distributed to the entire Ifako/Ijaiye Federal constituency.

He added that it will soon get to his turn at the federal level to access the palliatives meant for his constituents just as he said he will be adding bags of rice to the palliatives to be distributed.

In his welcome address, the President of the Social Reformers Club of Nigeria, Alhaji Wasiu Adegbite, described his club action as act of corporate social responsibility by reaching out to the less privileged within the community, and he also invited eminent people in the community to join them in this regard.

According to him, this is the period to show love,care and empathy to the less privileged and the society.

“We are doing this to show that we care for the less privileged in our community”, he maintained.

The chairman of board of trustee of the club a renown marine engineer, Chief Adegbamigbe welcomed visitors and make emphasis that the foods item are for less privileged in the immediate community and that the positive impact of the club should be felt by the people.

Adegbamigbe reiterated that social reformers club is not operating a beer parlor, saying that a road in the area was named after the club that was fully registered in 1979 because the club is located along the road.

A two- term Lagos State House of Assembly member, who is also the Vice-Chairman board of trustee of the club, Hon. Ipoola Omisore, thanked the special guest of honour for being physically present at short notice.

He said that the initiative of the club is to support government in its effort to alleviate peoples’ hardship just as he offered prayers for Hon. Olabinjo to have a successful tenure.

Eminent members of the club present were Chief fatogun, Mr. Dayo Omotuyi immediate past Secretary General of the club, Prince Oni,the secretary General, Otunba Bode Ogunola, social secretary, Otunba Ayo Randle among others.
