A middle aged woman, Madam Bose Oyetunde has been sentenced to one month imprisonment by am Akure Magistrate Court for dumping her grand child in Bush few minutes after delivery.

The woman who took delivery of her eldest daughter, Mrs Opeyemi Isaac on July 13,2017 at Omotosho village in Okitipupa local government disclosed how she decided to package the baby boy in a polythene bag on the account that he was not making noise at birth.

Opeyemi who was said to had lost consciousness after delivering the child enquired from her mother after coming back to life about the whereabouts of her baby only to be told that the baby was dumped in a bush when there was no sign of life.

The child was however saved by a Police Officer who had gone to the nearby bush to ease himself.

He was said to had alerted his other two colleagues standing by that he heard the cry of a baby in the bush after which they rescued the child.

On July 14, Opeyemi was arrested and taken to Igbotako Police Station where she was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Akure after investigations.

The old woman was sentenced to one month imprisonment by Magistrate O. A Edwin and on completion of the one month, according to the ruling, Madam Oyetunde will be taken to Igbotako Police station where she will be engaged in “Public Service” for another two months.
